Colorado Community College System needed a new website — one that would capture their efforts overseeing 13 community colleges, as well as their work with the state legislature and business leaders. With a wealth of web content to be updated and managed, they sought a partner who was up to the task.

Project

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) oversees a statewide network of thirteen community colleges. It also interfaces with legislators and business leaders, advocating for higher education and creating programming to support the state’s economic goals—for example, by leading initiatives to provide retraining, uptraining, and short-term certificates for businesses needing to reskill their teams.

The work that CCCS does has a major economic impact on the state—and it needed a website that could handle its needs. CCCS hired MAC to develop a comprehensive new digital system comprising nearly 1,000 web pages and three microsites, while expanding its well-established visual identity system to support that goal.

Challenge

If you’re a statewide network of thirteen colleges, you have a lot of stakeholders to think about. CCCS was committed to representing all of the community colleges it serves, including students, faculty, and staff. It needed to speak to legislators, businesses, and other community leaders, too.

For the new website to succeed, it had to incorporate insight from diverse perspectives, and it had to do so without losing focus or falling off track. It also had to have capacity. CCCS offers a vast array of content to its communities. Despite its scope and complexity, the organization needed to present itself in an effortlessly comprehensible, fully accessible way.

Solution

The solution was a digital system comprising nearly 1,000 web pages, including three microsites, built on a modular architecture that can continue to scale over time. An interactive map displays the location of each college, which prospective students can select to easily navigate to relevant information. The content is rich and engaging, with video, charts, tables, and graphs. The organization is intuitive, verified by user testing. And in full compliance with WCAG standards, the site demonstrates best practices in accessibility.

We developed an interactive map showing the location of main and satellite campuses of all 13 member institutions.

“Working with the team at MAC to build and launch our new website was a seamless and rewarding experience. Their expertise, attention to detail, and dedication to meeting our needs helped us create a dynamic, user-friendly platform that meets the latest digital accessibility standards. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the results and the ease of collaboration throughout the entire process!”
